Installation of new masonry pavers has begun! Crews from Imperial Stone began installation of the new masonry pavers in Central Place adjacent to Petit Pois. Paver installation will continue throughout the Mall as crews complete other work, such as installation of lighting systems and re-pointing of the runnels and banding.
The existing drainage runnels and some masonry accent banding will be left in place and the existing grout joints will be "re-pointed", which involves removal of the original grout and placement of new grout. The new grout is a latex modified system, which will provide a more serviceable installation than the regular masonry grout used in the original Mall construction.
The electrical conduit for the new lighting is being installed in the slots cut into the original concrete slab. These slots are being filled with a red tinted grout to aid in locating the conduit if future work is required for maintenance or repair.
All of the planters on the Mall are being removed. These planters will be cleaned and repainted, and will be returned to the Mall at the completion of the Project. In addition, new planters are being provided to allow for installation of more green space on the Mall.
