Construction Weather: Fair & Cold, 36oF - 41oF
Work continued on the Mall in the 400 East block (between 4th Street and 5th Street). Removal of the brick is progressing very smoothly, and the underlying slab continues to be in very good condition.
By the end of the day, the Parham Construction crew had completed the removal of the brick pavers and concrete accent banding in the center portion of the Mall for the entire 400 East Block.
Crews have begun spreading sand at Central Place for the new sand set brick pavers. Installation of the new pavers is expected to begin late next week.
All of the existing, original wiring will be replaced. The original wiring is in generally poor condition, and many of the circuits do not work reliably, requiring significant corrective work by City staff to keep the lights operating.
New junction boxes will be provided in the existing slab for the new lighting wiring. This will allow the existing system to be used by the Contractor for temporary lighting during the Project.
Crews from Parham Construction Company will use this mechanical cutter head to trench large, open areas of the existing slab for the new electrical conduit. Area's with restricted access will be sawcut and jackhammered, which will require more time.
This approximately 100 foot section of conduit trenching took approximately 20 minutes to complete with the mechanical cutter.
